On of the Christmas presents I made for one of the boys in my gang was a vinyl record clock. I don’t know where I first heard the idea, but it’s got to be one of the simplest things you can make for someone!
Simply take a vinyl record:
(My friend likes films, so I was pretty pleased to find this one in a local charity shop)
Then you get a clock movement (mine was from ebay, you can find them with all colours of hands to suit your needs and they’re pretty cheap):
That’s awesome. I love those fast, simple projects that end-up looking like something you’d happily buy. And hand-made gifts are the best 😀

Hi! Thanks for commenting! I also love the simple projects as I set myself the task to make as many presents as possible last Christmas (which is why I’m still writing them up for my blog in April!) so I couldn’t spend weeks knitting stuff for everyone. It’s also hard, I think, to make stuff for boys and this works for boys and girls! 🙂

It’s true, it is hard to think of stuff for boys, I often end-up thinking about up-cycling, steam-punk style stuff. And, unfortunately, I don’t think people really appreciate all the time and work put into knitted and crocheted projects unless they’re knitters/hookers themselves.

You’re totally right that non-knitters don’t appreciate knitted stuff as much as knitters! (Unless they live with you and can see the work that goes into knitted stuff :))
