Handmade Holiday Wardrobe

If you follow me on instagram, you may have seen my stories last week from my Italian holiday. I did a mini Italian tour, starting in Venice, then going to Florence and finishing in Rome. I took so many photos! And I also took an outfit photo each day as I thought it might be interesting to share on here (and for me) to see how I wore my me-made clothes on holiday.

It was very very hot the week I was away – the ‘coldest’ day was about 34 degrees and the hottest was the second day I was in Florence, when it reached 39! These photos do not convey how much of a sweaty mess I was for most of the week, but I still had a great time. I definitely want to go back to Venice and Florence.

Venice Day 1: Embroidered Kalle Shirt (not yet blogged) and mint linen Arden Shorts (refashioned from trousers)

Venice Day 1 (contd) I changed into my mustard double gauze Arden trousers as I went to a concert and didn’t want to stick to the chair!

Venice Day 2: Navy and white striped Jackson Tee and navy linen Arden shorts (refashioned from trousers)

Florence Day 1: Blush pink Summer co-ord set (not yet blogged) – Gilbert Shirt and Arden Shorts.

Florence Day 2 (when I thought I gave myself heat exhaustion but thankfully didn’t!): Denim Dawn shorts and mustard stripey Axis tank. I altered the necklines on all my axis tanks as I found them a bit strangley before.

Rome Day 1: Palm print Kalle shirt and cream linen Arden trousers. I went to the Vatican museums this day and you had to have your knees and shoulders covered. But also I used public transport in Rome and didn’t want gross seats on my bare thighs!

Rome day 2: I think my first Kalle shirt and my mustard double gauze Ardens again.

Pyjamas: New Carolyn pyjamas (not yet blogged)

There were a couple of things I realised about my holiday wardrobe, the main one being that I packed way to many clothes! I took multiple cardigans, which was frankly insane given the temperatures! I also don’t like planning my outfits in advance so I tend to pack everything so I have choices, but when you’re travelling between cities every 2 days that’s maybe not the most sensible strategy! I’m going to Thailand for 2 weeks in October so I want to try to pack more sensibly then because i will be travelling around there too. I don’t need to take all my shirts and all my pairs of shorts, or 4 pairs of shoes!

I did, however, use packing cubes which meant I didn’t have to unpack and repack everything constantly – I could just take out the cube with my shirts in, take one out, then all the others were packed away immediately! I hate living out of a suitcase usually but with packing cubes, it was fine. I’m a total convert – instagram influenced me in a helpful way!

Edit: I wrote this post 2 weeks ago and somehow didn’t press publish!
