Sorry for my lack of posts this week. I had a busy work week, went to a gig and then yesterday when I left work early to catch up with blogging and do some sewing/ knitting, I got a migraine 😦 It’s the first one I’ve had in years and was really bad timing!
I was going to write up my New Look 6000 dress which I finished over a month ago, but although I took some photos of it, none of them are great so I’m going to have another photo session tomorrow and hopefully then I can share my first clothing make!
So instead, you get a craft fail! As I’ve mentioned several times, I tried to make Christmas presents for as many people as possible last year. For one of my best girlfriend’s boyfriends, I decided to make something I saw once somewhere (I don’t know where I saw it, but I definitely didn’t come up with the idea myself). Basically you can glue a load of toy soldiers together inside a bowl and then take it out and hey presto! you’ve got a bowl made of soldiers – he loves all things military so I thought it would be a cool present.
I don’t know what I did wrong, but it did not work. I think it may have been my choice of glue – it was too rubbery so the bowl wouldn’t keep its shape:
I put some tape around the top to help it keep its shape but it looked a bit shit!
I did give it to him (with another present of beer) but after 2 minutes in the hands of my friend’s toddler, the bowl was in 2 pieces. Which probably made it look better!
Not my best work…….
If you’ve managed to make something like this, please let me know how you did it because I still like the idea!
